Me and a friend were talking about this
Pick 5 players from the post-1998 era that you would put on your starting basketball team. All of the players would be in their prime no matter how old they are now.
Remember that you arnt just picking the best players, but players you think that would actually win games together
here is mine:
PG- John Stockton SG- Micheal Jordan SF- Andrei Kirilenko PF- Tim Duncan C - Shaquille O'Neal
I feel that that is a good mix

PG- Steve Nash SG- Michael Jordan SF- Kobe Bryant PF- Kevin Garnett C- Tim Duncan
You get everything with these five guys - leadership, passing, shooting, defense, toughness, rebounding, athleticism.
Only problem I can see is Jordan's and Kobe's egos in constant competition. But damn, would be fun to see them play together.

PG: Jason Kidd SG: Micheal Jordan SF: Tracy Mcgrady PF: Tim Duncan C: Ben Wallace
T-Mac used to score 30 a season remember and isnt as selfish as Kobe. Mike is Mike. Kidd dosnt need to shoot only pass if his teamates are on. Duncan cares about the team and can score if needed and rebound. Wallace is for defense and boards we know he cant score but with this team why would he.

Didnt Jordans reign really end in 98. We should try to do this - Jordan in the future.

PG - Steve Nash SG - Reggie Miller SF - Michael Jordan PF - Tim Duncan C - Shaquille O'Neal
The only one I'm not sure of is PG, I could have gone Kidd or Stockton pretty easily, but I went with Nash cos he's the better pure shooter and will spread the floor for the others.
I'm leaving Kobe off because he's a ballhog and slags out his teammates too much. Rodman and Hakeem miss out because they didn't have much left in the tank by '98, while LeBron still doesn't have a reliable outside shot to keep the D from collapsing on the other guys, forcing him to shoot it. I took Reggie over LeBron and T-Mac cause he was incredibly clutch, still peaking in '98, always elevated his game for the playoffs, and spreads the floor for the other guys to operate. Shaq, Dunc and Jordan are all simply too dominating at their peaks to consider leaving off.
Oh, and if we need a three late in the fourth I'm subbing in Horry for Shaq and moving Dunc to the 5, hehe.
