This is my perspective on each team's shape heading into the stretch run of the season. Please do not crucify me if you do not agree with my opinions. They are mearly MY opinion.
Eastern Conference:
1) Detroit Pistons
The Pistons have been the best team in the league for the majority of the season, and nothing indicates that changing any time soon. Chauncey and co. have the best chance of anyone, of taking home court advantage throughout the playoffs. But not if the next few teams have anything to say about it.
2) Chicago Bulls
KG and the boys haven't played that great recently, but that's because the league's best frontcourt of Ben Wallace, Kevin Garnett, and Luol Deng were all injured for the better part of 2 weeks. With Garnett and Deng now back, and Wallace's return in the near future. The team can look forward to a run deep into the playoffs.
3) Miami Heat
D Wade and his pals down on South Beach have been taking care of buisness as of late. The trade for Eddy Curry has worked in the teams favour, and with Orlando slipping, the division is Miami's to take. Will their playoff inexperience come back to hurt them? Find out on TNT's 40 games in 40 nights.
4) Toronto Raptors
The Craptors no more. Toronto has seen productive seasons from the man that looks like a dinosaur, as well as newcomer Shane Battier. Toronto has been consistent all season, which is something two of the teams ahead of them (Chicago and Miami) can't say. With CB4 just finishing his 2nd all star game, he looks forward to his first taste of the playoffs.
5) Cleveland Cavaliers
LeBron hasn't had the greatest season stat wise, (you can blame NBA Live for that) but his team had one of the best starts in the league. With his team slipping fast, will the GM make any deadline deals to give the team a shot at the finals? Find out in the coming days.
6) Orlando Magic
After Orlando's rise to the top of the Southest division, they have fallen hard, and quickly. Channing Frye is actually starting to play like Channing Frye again, and Dwight Howard isn't living up to his potential. An Orlando/Miami Playoff series would be great for creating the rivalry that Miami's GM has been hyping up to the best of his foreign ability at every chance he gets.
7) New Jersey Nets
The trade for Gerald Wallace hasn't helped the Nets all that much, but they definetely have the potential to be an elite team. With J Kidd doing his thing, and Gerald and RJ on the wings, this team has a chance to upset any of the teams at the top.
I could put a picture of any white, bald, middle aged man. And you would think it's Jason Kidd.
8) Charlotte Bobcats
On the flipside of the Vince Carter trade, it has helped the Bobcats immensley. But not as much as the trade for Paul Pierce. The duo has led turned them from bottom dwellers, into a playoff team. But the new GM has other plans, as he plans on trading Carter for a bigman. Find out in the near future.
