This is the reason I came here to post something. I just looked through EVERY teams players' ratings, and there is a clear problem, in my opinion. I looked only at PF/C type guys, and I noticed something very very odd. There is this kind of clear cut off that has been laid out. there are a large number of PF types rated at around 81 or 82. Then there is only Emeka Okafor at an 84, and Pau Gasol at an 86. Then there are a few guys like Bosh/Amare rated in the low 90's. Plus, I think we already talked about lowering Okafor...AND I think Gasol needs to be right up with the bosh/amare's, maybe just a point or two below them.
Is this really how you view the entire big men in the NBA? basically a ten point ratings difference between one tier and the next?
Seems VERY VERY odd and out of place to me.

Boston's Response
Post about the big-men in a separate thread GSW. That's what this section is for.
And off the top of my head, Boozer is an 86, your own David West is 82, Al Jefferson is 84...

I said in the 81-82 range, so West is accounted for.
I forgot Jefferson who is going up one point, probably should be a little more. And I forgot Boozer also after looking through 30 threads, sorry.
so that is like 4 guys instead of 2. Still seems a bit off. We're talking basically an 8 point gap where only about 4 guys fill up those 8 points.

Why do you think this is so whack? Usually PF's are pretty talented because they are the big guys who can play offense.
I see nothing wrong with the ratings...Gasol at an 86 is fine, Okafor at an 84 is fine. David West could go up to an 83-84...I mean all of these ratings seem legit..

no, the problem I see, and I view it as a league problem, not MY problem, is that there are a few very elite PF's (bosh, amare, duncan) rated at about 90...then only 3 or 4 guys rated in the 89-83 range...and then a rather large chunk of PFs rated 82 and lower. I don't really have a problem with most of the upper rated guys. I think we need to bring some of the 78-82 rated PF's up to even out the talent level, so it's closer to real life.

NJ's thing would at least be closer to even throughout. Current set up is more like
94 93 92 92 91 90 86 86 84 84 82 82 82 82 81 81 80 80 79 79 78
I just think that the 83-89 range needs to contain more players. (no, the ratings I used are not the actual ratings in this league, though I do plan on plucking them out and posting them pretty soon.)

The problem is you are taking big men and their ratings and comparing them to other big men, when in fact they are based off the rest of the league.
And how different of a disparity is NJ ratings from the current one? I don't think they are that different. He has 14 players 89-80. In your example, which is sure to be off from the actual result, has 12.

Some of these guys are already up for ratings changes, like kenyon for one...so I'm going to go through and note that later tonight.

I think we could bring Elton Brand down to an 85-87 range, but I don't know who we could bring up.
Is it that much of an issue though? If there's not many big men in between 81 and 89, maybe that's because none are perceived to be worthy of that range.
It's not an equal opportunity board ;D

of which, 10 are rated 80-82 and are not who I'm really talking about. Kenyon is at 83 but is going down to about 80, so that's 11 of those 17, and that's not who I'm talking about.
Also not really talking about Bosh at an 89.
So from 83-88 we have 5 players - Okafor at 84, Jefferson at 84, Gasol at 86, Boozer at 87, Yao at 87.
I just see some inconsistencies throughout this list, and I think there should be a few more guys at least in the 83-85 range.

I could see David West, Andrew Bynum, and LaMarcus Aldridge 83-85 but no one else.
I think Bargnani could break 80. Since he has been starting for the Raptors he's been a monster. Hes getting like 20 PPG. So I could see him as a 79-80.

I haven't said much to really defend my players or anything, but I think LaMarcus Aldridge should go up a bit higher than was planned. The last few weeks, he's just tore it up. I get to see him close to every game he plays, and his offensive game is vastly improving. IMO, arguably a top 5 PF in the league these past few weeks.

I LOL'ed at this. Good stuff NJ. As for the Big men ratings, I think a few are off, but most are accurate for this league. Other leagues have other ratings, and thats fine.

I'm just up for starting discussion on these things :-)
Aldridge and David West should go a bit higher IMO. I think Frye needs to go to like a 68.
Diaw, Biedrins, and David Lee should all go up also.
Gasol and Yao should be up a few more points, yes we should bring Brand down...KG should come down a few points IMO. Boozer could be discussed as to if he still deserves that rating, if we're bringing Brand down Boozer needs discussed for similar reasons.
Jefferson should go up more than the 85 he's scheduled for. I'd think 87ish.
Yi doesn't deserve a 77.
Bogut is low at a 76.
Dalembert, Jason Thompson, Scola, Nene, Troy Murphy, Spencer Hawes all deserve to go up some, IMO.
BTW, this is more than a "few" in my opinion, that's why I thought it should be mentioned and brought up.
