“Worst team I have ever been on” quoted by a former bobcat player who we will not say his name out of respect. The Charlotte bobcats were the worst team in the whole league this season posting an awful 14 win and 68 lost season. Mid way in the season the bobcats had fire the old GM, and brought in a new GM to try and make this team better. His very first action to make this team better was trading Fred Jones to the Orlando Magic for a 2nd rounder and Quincy Douby. This trade may look stupid at first but the GM had a plan that seems to work. He started very slowly, trading bits and bits of there roster and keeping there very own first round pick. Speedy Claxton who had complained on how awful this team is and how he wanted to be trade, he got his wish, as Jerry had enough of him, and traded him to the Lakers. The bobcats also gave up young star PG Marcus Williams.
“What the hell, why would you trade away Marcus Williams?” said a season ticket holder. “This team is already carp, how much more crap players are you willing to add to this team?” Jerry shot back right away and stated “Guys, we are not going to win this year, lets face it, hell we would even make it to the playoffs, lets do smart stuff. We traded away Williams because he won’t be the future PG of this team, and also Speedy has an awful contract, so we dealt away 1 awful contract and brought in Free agents for next season. We basically saved over 7 million in cap space become of that trade.” Looking back at that trade you start to think this GM known’s what he is doing. That trade that sent speedy to Lakers make a lot of fans understands why he did it, and Jerry had more plans to help this team.
“I hate that we are losing, I hate that Vince Carter left, but hell I love the team and I wont want to leave” said Paul Perice. Paul was the only amazing player left on the bobcat’s team. When Jerry moved in, Jerry went to talk to Paul and stated “you’re amazing, but I don’t think its right to have an amazing player on this team and at your age. I am willing to deal you to any team that might make the playoffs and help our team in the long run” after that talk, Jerry pulled off his first Blockbuster deal as a Bobcats GM. He traded away Paul Pierce and Chris Mihm and got back Al Horford, Craig Smith, Luke Walton, 1st rounder 08 Memphis Grizzlies, 2nd Rounder 08 Memphis Grizzlies, 2nd rounder 09 Memphis Grizzlies and Brian Cardinal contract. That official meant, the bobcats was giving up this season and looking forward to next season.
“When the off season starts my team will look A LOT different” said Jerry. After that season was official over for the bobcats went out and got Andrea Bargnani from the Houston Rockets. This was the official Trade Mark of where the Bobcats started to rebuild this team. You would think, what could the bobcats do, they only got Bargnani who had a pretty awful year. Jerry official said in the news conference “I will trade anything to upgrade, even my first rounder (which turned out to be first overall)”. The messages just started to rush in. About 2 days after saying that, he got a trade offer which he could not refuse. It was a blockbuster three way deal which include the first round pick going to Houston for T-Mac and then the bobcats traded T-Mac and Horford to the Utah Jazz for Caron Butler, Richard Jefferson, Mcdyce. The bobcats team look a lot of better and there fans were getting happy.
“There was one trade I may have been wrong to do and it was the Cavs deal where I traded away Jefferson for Bibby and Barbsoa. I think I should of have gotten a lot more than that, but we really need a PG and I think it was a great move at the time. Lucky for me I was able to trade those assets away ASAP.” Said Jerry as he was reflecting his off season trades. The Bobcats team looks a lot better but then the phone rang, and it was Golden Sate.
“Hey Jerry, would you like Kobe, ill trade him for Caron and Jason Richardson” said Golden Sate GM. “Boy I was jumping up and down when I got that call, its KOBE, who in the right mind wont take him, but I had to take a walk and think about it, would kobe really help my team? I have a good team so far, I think if I get Kobe maybe I can trade him for a good PF/SF and maybe upgrade in PG. I might as well try” said Jerry. Jerry made a few calls around and he got a buyer, and that was Detroit. Jerry made the 1st biggest 4 way blockbuster deal which sent Kobe go to the New Jersey Nets, Caron and Jason going to Golden State, and to the Bobcats were the following players: Tayshaun Prince, Kenyon Martin, Chauncey Billups 1st Rounder 09 DET, 2nd Rounder 09 DET. Leaving Bobcats were Caron, Jason, and Mike Bibby.
“I couldn’t be happier of my team, I have a great starting four, and now I’m just looking for a SG, which won’t be to hard. My team become from the worst team of the league, to maybe a playoff team. It’s amazing how I was able to do all this BEFORE FA time. All I need to do I get roster players for less money and my team will be ready to Kick Ass.” Said Jerry
