2008 Player Option Decisions
Originally this was going to be decided by the Player Agent representatives for each division, but I think it's important that we let GMs know where they stand before re-signing and free agency begins (tonight) so they can better plan their teams. Therefore I've decided to do it now by myself.
Players who opt-out and leave their teams will enter into Off Season Free Agency (with the exception of Juan Carlos Navarro, see below).
Exercised Player Option - Returning Players
(CHA) Chauncey Billups - $12,000,000 - $12,000,000 - $12,000,000 - $12,000,000
(HOU) Stephon Marbury - $12,000,000 - $13,000,000 - $14,000,000
(MIL) Andreas Nocioni - $6,500,000 - $7,325,000 - $8,200,000 - $9,000,000
(NOH) Jerry Stackhouse - $4,777,926 - $5,494,614 - $5,500,000
(PHX) Quentin Ross - $2,154,000 - $2,154,000
(WAS) Brian Cook - $1,750,000 - $1,750,000 - 1,750,000
Opting Out - Leaving Players
(CHA) Juan Carlos Navarro - $500,000 - $600,000 - $700,000
Juan Carlos feels he can get a lot more money elsewhere and has exercised his player option and departed not only the Charlotte Bobcats but the league entirely. He will be playing for Barcelona next season and will not enter our free agency.
(MIA) Eddie Jones - $500,000 - $575,000
Despite his age, Eddie would like to go to a contender and feels they could probably pay him more too.
(MIA) PJ Brown - $500,000 - $500,000 - $500,000
PJ wants more money and feels he can get it and get snapped up by a contender.
(WAS) James Posey - $3,279,693 - $3,750,000 - 4,000,000
Posey's stock is at a high at the moment and he thinks he can get somewhere in the $5mil range atleast.
