Hornets Trade:Kirk Hinrich 80 - $10,000,000--$9,500,000--$9,000,000--$8,000,000 08 1st rounder (GSW) 08 2nd rounder 09 1st rounder 09 2nd rounder Total Outgoing: $10,000,000 Total Incoming: $6,575,000 Pacers Trade:08 1st rounder (5th pick) Marco Jaric 72 - $6,575,000--$7,100,000--$7,625,000 09 1st rounder Total Outgoing: $6,575,000 Total Incoming: $10,000,000 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- I accept this deal because I would like the 5th pick and pick a younger player... even if i get rid of Hinrich I still get Jaric who can be a great bench player and maybe a starter... and even if i lose my 09 1st and 2nd i still get the Pacer 09 1st which could be a lottery pick...

I accept, by what I've been hearing neither player I would like to pick up at the 5th pick will be available. And GS pick is a latter pick but this is a deep draft (and judging by the rimrockers 2008 rookie draft anything could happen)

I wouldn't use the RimRockers draft as a benchmark for our own. I know they wanted to get to their next season, but holding the draft when you don't even have a definitive list of who's declared themselves available was pretty short-sighted. Anthony Randolph fell to the mid second-round, for example.
What's weird about this deal is that I traded Indiana's 2008 1st back to Indiana in exchange for Carlos Boozer, and now it's the centerpiece in a deal for none other than Kirk 'Farty-Pants' Hinrich with some late first rounders thrown in for yet more filler on the Pacers roster.
Indiana's giving back the burden of Marko Jaric but they're also packaging their coveted 1st rounder for next year which will undoubtably be a high pick if Hinrich plays as poorly as he has done this year and his rating drops yet again. Indiana cannot tell me, with a straight face, that Hinrich, as his centerpiece, is going to propel his team into the playoffs and make the second first rounder irrelevant.
This is the most blatant case of trading-down and fizzling assets away. Ever.
I reject.
*disclaimer: apologies for the creative criticism, I get bored when there's no simming to do!

Anthony Randolph fell to the mid second-round, for example It was either holding the draft early or closing the league. That was our only choice. We couldn't afford to wait 2 months to see how was going to declare for the draft. If we waited, we would have lost most of the GM's.

It was a difficult place to be in.

Yeah I was a Co-Admin when the draft was being held there ( I actually almost made the draft) and I know that if we didnt do that the league would be almost dead or DEAD now... it was the best idea back there.

I reject as well. The Hornets are trading Hinrich, 28th pick, and the 45th pick for the 5th pick. That, by itself, favors the Hornets IMO, but a swap of next year's first round picks makes this deal a bit too lopsided for me. Of course, the Pacers could potentially have a better record than the Hornets next year, but that seems very unlikely based on this past season's results.
