Ok... I know this has kinda blown away but I still feel that some unfairness went on here and want to make an arguement about some players
In parenthese is my personal defense rating (1-10, 10 is highest)
• Shaq: 86-82 -- 13.6 ppg, 9 rpg, 1.5 bpg (8 defense)
• Rasheed: 87-87 -- 13 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.6 bpg (7 defense)
• Aldridge: 76-76 -- 17.9 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 1.2 bpg (5 defense)
• Dalembert: 74-74 -- 10.7 ppg, 10.4 rpg, 2.4 bpg (9 defense)
OK.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let's start with Shaq. I know he isnt on my team anymore, but I still think he was unfairly treated. I think you guys looked at his name and not his stats. He is a game changer, both on the offensive end and defensive end. Even though he hasnt been as effective this year, teams still focus on not letting him get position, which has opened it up for in Amare in real life to average (i think) 28 ppg since the Shaq trade. Shaq is 4th in the league in field goal percentage.
He has better stats in every category (except .1 bpg) than Rasheed Wallace, and is more of an impact player on the floor. Why is he not rated higher?
He has better stats in every category than Kenyon Martin, plays on a better team, more of an impact player. Why is he not rated higher?
Suggested rating: 84
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As for Rasheed... his kinda tied in to Shaq's arguement. If you want to say that he is rated so high because he is on a great team and doesnt need to score more than 13 ppg... then David West should be a freakin' 90. Suggested rating: 83
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yea, ok, LaMarcus Aldridge isnt on a playoff team, but they are still gonna finish above .500. That would be a playoff team in the East, and he should be rewarded for leading this young team. He has had a breakout season and I feel that his rating should reflect that. Suggested rating: 80
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dalembert is on a playoff team. He is a great defender. He is 3rd in the league in blocks per game. Now, I am going to make a comparison. Emeka Okafor. Emeka averages 13 ppg for the Bobcats... who are not a playoff team. Dalembert has much better defense than Emeka (honestly I feel Emekas defense is overrated).
So, lets recap.
Dalembert is on a better team.
Dalembert is a better defender.
Dalembert gets only 3 ppg less than Emeka.
Dalembert is 4th in the league in blocks per game.
He's no Marcus Camby, but give the guy some props
Suggested rating: 78 (almost the same as Bynum)
Honestly, overall, I feel like you guys looked at names more than stats. I do understand that someone could probably come up with an arguement against all of the arguements that I have posted above, and I welcome you to do that. I just feel that this entire rating changes thing needs to be relooked and each player considered more carefully. Most of it is good, and I understand that there will always be some mistakes, and my list probably isnt complete, but its a start
