We're going to be awarding a D5 GM of the Year Award and it's a topic that you can all be a part of deciding.
Who do you think should be D5 GM of the Year?
please give your reasons why.
This will be an ongoing discussion that will last until the end of the playoffs, so there's no hurry.

The new GM of Minnesota T-Wolves, he picks a poor team, and makes him go to the Offs
The Spurs GM, for believes in the 1st place all league, and did it
The 2 is my favorites =)

My vote goes to Minnesota's GM. He took over a team that had no direction, pulled off a few trades, and has now clinched the 8th seed in the playoffs. Even if they get swept out of the first round, this team now has the pieces to improve in the upcoming seasons.

I like what Chicago did with the Bulls but I think Dallas' late season run is worth a lot. Especially if he makes some noise in the playoffs. He gets my vote.

I think it should go to Atlanta.. you can argue that Minnesota is a great GM, but Atlanta has a much brighter future with his team compared to Minnesota having a lot of that have already reached their peak or are on the decline
I just feel like Atlanta has come the furthest from where their real life team was

Ok, so Atlanta and Minny, and Spurs and Nets, plus the Bulls and Mavs GMs are all getting mentions so far. Golden State would've been up there if the moves he made had materialised into wins. So would Portland I think. But alas, they did not. New York and Philly set themselves up for a bright future and that desrerves some mention. Atleast they've got that, whereas Memphis... hmm I dunno, heh. I think the three worst must go to the former TWolves GM and first Lakers GM I like what I did with the Celtics and don't regret any of the moves I made.

I wouldn't under-estimate what i've done...i've got a franchise player in Boozer, a young PG that can lead my team for years to come, an emerging stud in Walton, soon to be starters Craig Smith and Hakim Warrick, great defensive stalwarts and role players in Devean George and Dampier, solid vets like Etan thomas and damon stoudamire, and two first round picks (one is a guaranteed top 20 and the other will at least be top-10, probably top 5). And that was with the worst team in the league that i started with.
Other a couple more draft than me, Philly and New York aren't that good and won't be. I'm looking at a line-up next year that will have an 81 and 79 at PF and PG, a good chance that all of my starters will be over 70, a great back-up pg (stoudamire, who will be 74), and an extremely deep bench. I can see why you might think Philly is better set for the future, but the majority of NY's team are deep bench players and my 12th man has the same rating as his starters.

^^^To spite Memphis, I am going to sign Kevin Garnett and trade for Kobe Bryant this off-season. 07-08 Knicks>>>07-08 Grizzlies (except for Devean George...he is unstoppable) PG: Marbury SG: Kobe SF: Durant PF: Garnett C: Oden That's the plan...Now, I just have to find a way to get it done.
