Been listening to a lot of Streetlight Manifesto lately. Although I can garuntee not a single one of you knows who they are. I don't listen to any modern mainstream music what so ever. Although I do have Kanye West's CD Late Registration, and I have every System of a Down CD.

So far Miami has the only good choice, even though I'm not a Sabbath fan... it is far more appealing than any of your picks.
Right now I'm digging Rancid's selftitled cd from '93.

I've been playing Sum 41's "Underclass Hero" CD in my car for like the past two weeks. I'm not a big punk rock fan, but this CD is awesome.

Rancid is a great band. Matt Freeman is probably one of the 5 best bassists on earth, and Lars Frederiksen's side project (Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards) is really some kick ass throwback stuff.

CHI, there are much worse songs then those 2 I listed, if they were bad both of them woulden't be the top songs respectively in 2006 and 2007. You probably like rock music or metal.
SAS, have you been living under a rock, HIP HOP or RAP is still ALIVE.
The only thing that's changed is people prefer listening to "Go-Go versions" of those type of songs now.

Wow. Just because a majority of people listen to it, doesn't mean it's good music. Do you forget that the Beegees once had songs at the top of the charts? How about Brittney Spears? I could go on and on, but I'll save you some dignity. Just because a lot of people like something, doesn't mean it's good. (See George Bush being voted back in power)

True hip hop is dead, gone are the days of 2pac, Biggie, actual lyrical artists, now it's just who has the best dance out.

What about them? They're all nice, got some beats, but they aren't lyrical. 50 used to be. Yung Joc is hot. I still listen to all this mainstream stuff, cus I like beats, but I'm just saying lyrical rap artists are in short supply these days.

Post by Dallas Mavericks on Oct 6, 2007 14:48:31 GMT
true true, the only real lyrical rap artist is probably Kanye and Akon and that's about it.
The rest are all trying to diss each other instead of making great songs.
Hip Hop is still alive, I think Rap is more dead then hip hop
