The Utah Jazz sign Stephen Jackson.
Year 1 - $6,500,000 Year 2 - $7,215,000 Year 3 - $8,009,000 Year 4 - $8,890,000 Year 5 - $9,867,000
Re-signers Washington actually didn't do themselves any favours when they signed Al Harrington and Tracy McGrady to contend for Jackson's position, until then they were leading. Once again Sacramento came incredibly close but the Utah Jazz came out on top eventually, a slight bit of light after an otherwise dismal off season.

Just how long are we supposed to wait to sign someone? We put an offer in on the first day of free agency. The Indiana player debacle wasn't our fault.
I'll move on without bitching too much but signing McGrady and putting Salmons to the bench doesn't effect Jackson at all. Signing Harrington because we needed a backup power forward doesn't effect Jackson at all. All these moves were done to accomodate Jackson, not hinder him. Why would a FA leave a team on the upswing because the team was doing things to get better and made it clear from day 1 they were building around him?
All these other FA's resigned with their own teams...so much for the resigning team having the advantage.

Oh yeah, he chose to take less money than I offered as well:(
OK. I guess I am off my soapbox now. Time to regroup from being dealt a critical blow to our franchise.

Tel me about it Washington, I offered McGrady a much more realistic deal, and I was the re-signing team, offering him a starting spot and got turned down. No offense, but these player agents have been screwing this offseason up for all but a couple of teams.

So bust your balls in trades I "struck out" on all the big names this off-season in free agency. The only "big signing" I had was convincing Redd to resign. My team is waaay better off now than last season because I made some good trades. Free agency is barely half the battle.

Maybe we should make Free Agency more realistic, like in real life, and give one team Lebron, Bosh and Wade? ;D
