The New Jersey Nets have apparently come to a deal with the Utah Jazz. The Jazz will be sending sharpshooting all-star Ray Allen over to Jersey for Richard Jefferson, the 23rd pick in the draft, and players to be named. Allen averaged almost 27 ppg last season but was limited to just 55 games.
The Nets GM commented the following, "It was his (Jefferson's) time to go. Deals have been circleing around the clubhouse about Richard being on the move, and he just did not feel comfortable playing for this organization any more. Gerald Wallace has expressed to us many times that he feels more comfortable playing the small forward position, something he was not getting to do last year with Jefferson around. Jefferson is a great guy and we wish him the best of luck in Utah. As for Ray Allen, we are extremely excited to add a veteran player to our team. Jason actually came up and hugged me today, expressing that he thought this was a perfect fit."
Can Ray Allen bring New Jerseys title hopes to life? Only time will tell!
