Player of the Month:
LeBron James (Cleveland)
The King led his team to a 21-8 record by months end. His team high of 20 points per game, to go along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists make him a strong lock for February's All-Star game.
Rookie of the Month:
Adam Morrison (Charlotte)
Adam followed up his strong play from November witch earned him this award a month ago. His strong play was evident by his 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. Morrison might have a hard time winning the award from now on out with the teams aquiring of Paul Pierce. Adam will now find himself backing up Pierce and Carter.
Coach of the Month:
Scott Skiles (Chicago)
Chicago climbed the Eastern Conference standings despite an injury to Kirk Hinrich. Skiles made a bold move by starting Andre Barrett, and it payed off with multiple 20+ point games. As of lately, Kevin Garnett has been showing up with higher scoring games including 37 a few nights ago. Chicago now looks poised to make a run at the Finals with a record of 21-9.
Western Conference:
Player of the Month:
Yao Ming[/b] (Houston)
The Rockets sit a top the Eastern Conference, and the main reason why is Yao Ming. Yao dominated by leading the league in scoring with 25 points per game. This goes along with his 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and over a block and a half per game. Yao and his Rockets look primed for the Western Conference crown with a record of 23-7.
Rookie of the Month:
Tyrus Thomas (Minnesota)
Now both of Novembers ROM's have repeated, as Tyrus Thomas leads the race for ROY early in the season. His 15 points leads all rookies, as do his 9 rebounds per game. He has over a steal, and over a block per game as well on a Minnesota team that looks like they have a good shot at the playoffs.
Coach of the Month:
Jeff van Gundy (Houston)
Houston takes 2 awards this month. Van Gundy has done a great job with the Rockets en route to their lead in the Western Conference standings. Yao winning POM helps Jeff's cause, as does Tracy McGrady's 19 points, to go along with 5 boards and 5 dimes per game. Rookie Andrea Bargnani also was very solid as he is third on the team in scoring with 14 points and 7 boards per game.
