It's been a tough season for Dallas so far, after being banned from trading for a week and having a mixed up roster, the Mavericks fans probably want some continuity now that the dust has settled. I sat down with the Dallas GM and put forward some questions:
Q: Hi Dallas, I'm just wondering if you'd be kind enough to answer a few questions for me? and I'll post the answers in the Media Center.
DAL: sure no problem
Q: On paper your team looks excellent! Nowitzki, Baron Davis, Lamar Odom and Marcus Camby are all excellent players. Do you feel your team is underachieving? and if so, why?
DAL: I believe that injuries to Dirk and Jason Williams has really hurt this team and damaged it, which caused us to lose a lot of our games, also the Mavs lacked a true SG on the team, and after we received Baron, he was struggling early but Jason Williams transitioned into a SG well, it's a lack of SG, injuries to Dirk and J. Will, Baron struggling, and the lack of chemistry this team had early in the season, that is what caused this team to suffer early, but this team is looking forward on making a charge on the second half (of the season).
Q: Your Mavs recently lost to the Sonics, that must've been tough to watch. Can you explain how that made you feel?
DAL: Painful, suffering, feeling a lot of anguish and frustration, espicially it hurts me a lot that my team is losing to a underacheiving team like the Supersonics, I have all the respect for their team, but I just feel that our players just can't be that consistent, and this makes me wonder should I blow the team up, or just wait until Jason Williams is back to help this team out, because without him this team is very frail, as you have seen this team lost 5 of it's last 6 games, so until Jason Williams comes back and the team becomes better chemistry wise, I can pretty much say I will have this painful and suffering feeling losing to mediocre teams.
Q: What are your plans for the Mavericks future? Do you have any further trading to do or are you going to wait and see if your team can mesh and perform?
DAL: well it depends on if J-Will can come back healthy, if he is healthy then you can expect me to keep this team in tact and hope for the best and that we strive more toward perfection and victories then losing games and suffering, but if the team does suffer I may consider trading my players BUT only for the right price. I may keep my front-court of Odom, Camby, and Dirk, but I might trade Baron with J-Will for a guy like Kobe or Gilbert Arenas if that makes my team better.
Dallas, thanks for your time.
DAL: thanks for interviewing me, it was an honer, and I would only tell one thing to everyone in the league, beware of the Mavs because once everyone is 100% no one can stop this team, and I also wish best of luck to you and everyone other GM here who are working their butts off to succeed in this league. Lastly if you want I'll gladly do another interview and also thank you for giving me this opprtunity to ask any questions you have about me and the Dallas Mavericks, hope to have another conversation with you or anyone who wants to have one about my team in the future.
Thanks and good luck to everyone for the rest of the season.
