Udonis Haslem played his first game with the New Jersey Nets yesterday. Although Udonis only shot 2 shots, he managed to grab 8 rebounds and still end up with 7 points. Lawrence Frank commented after the game that its not so much as to getting Haslem to be a better player, its just getting him more involved in the offense. On other news, Lawrence Frank commented on the performance of Nenad Krstic in the 121-107 loss against Utah, "Krstic is a great player, he went 11-21 from the floor for 25 points. We just need to work on his defense and we could possibly get this young guy to all-star calibur" Despite shooting 46% from the field and making 29 of 32 free throws, the Nets still lost by 14 to the Jazz who shot 55% from the field and made 28 of 31 free throws. Will this Nets' team be able to win a championship on offense alone? Guess we will find out! www.geocities.com/dynasty5ive/results/bxscr065.txt

Udonis Haslem finally took more than 4 shots in a game for the Nets as Haslem went 5-15 for 12 points as the Nets beat the Bucks 116-92. The Nets were led by Jason Kidd who had 27 points and 9 assists. Nenad Krstic went 11-16 and dropped 26 points to go along with his 8 boards, and Vince Carter put in another solid performance with 25 points.
Coach Lawrence Frank was interviewed after the game,
"This team is playing excellent basketball. We are taking high percentage shots and have managed to go undefeated since acquiring Udonis Haslem. Richard Jefferson hasnt scored well in the past couple of games but has ended up with double-doubles due to his rebounding ability. Honestly, if all that Richard needs to do is to be a roleplayer, then I feel that this team has a chance to win the 'ship. Everyone on our starting lineup has the ability to drop 25 points in a game and when more than one person steps up, this offense is deadly."
Frank went on..,
"What has really suprised me though is the defense that this team is playing. In years past our defense has always been a flaw but the guys on our team are really stepping up. Kidd and Jefferson are playing tremendous defense day in and day out but guys like Krstic and Haslem have really stepped it up on the defensive end."
By looking at the words of coach Frank, the Nets have really high expectations for this season. New Jersey is already off to a 5-1 start and has jumped way ahead of the rest of the Atlantic division. Watch out for this team!

The Nets have just announced that Vince Carter, Marcus Williams, and Mikki Moore will be traded to Charlotte for Gerald Wallace, Raymond Felton, and Sean May.
GM Bigblack was interviewed about the decision,
Charles Barkley: "Bigblack, your team is 9-3, yet you decide to move players? Can you please explain your decision?"
BigBlack: "Yea, thats an easy one. I talked to the organization here for a long time and we all came to the conclusion that this move was best for our teams future. Sure, we might lose a few more games this season, but we feel that we should still easily be able to win the Atlantic Division. Even though I feel that we have a great lineup, I still don't feel that we are a championship contender without an all-star big man. That is why I made the trade."
Charles Barkley: "But Bigblack, you are saying you want an all-star big man yet you did not acquire one in this trade."
BigBlack: "Yea, that is true. We are planning on letting Raymond Felton ride the bench this season but next year he will be our starter. This means that Jason Kidd will be moving for a big man this offseason. We feel that Felton is more than capable of playing point guard for our team. We feel that with a new big man this offseason, our team will be more balanced and will be able to compete for a championship."
Charles Barkley: "Ok, I understand. So you are basically saying that you didn't feel that your team could win a ring this season anyway, yet you are still going to make the playoffs even with the trade. Basically you are building for next year?"
BigBlack: "Yea, that is correct. Honestly, this team can still compete in the Eastern conference and win 45 or maybe 50 games this year and be a 3 or 4 seed in the playoffs. Its not like we totally bombed our program. We feel that this move was the best for our team's future, yet we still feel that we can win games this year. Its a win-win situation."
Later that day...
Steven A. Smith: "Obviously the Nets are probably not going to be able to keep their .75% win percentage but will they still make the playoffs? Where will the missing offense of Vince Carter come from?"
BigBlack: "Well, if you look at some of the boxscores of our games you will see that Jason Kidd averages about 20 ppg. Carter was getting about 20 ppg. Haslem and Krstic usually combined for about 35 ppg. But, who was left out? Richard Jefferson. He has only been getting 10-15 ppg for us this season and we feel that bringing in a defensive player like Gerald Wallace that he will get more touches and hopefully lead this team in scoring. Wallace can also drop mad points on occasion, so we will see how it goes."
Steven A. Smith: "Alright, I understand. Thanks for your time and I sure am excited about watching this team develop."

New Jersey Tumbling:
The New Jersey Nets have lost 3 straight games.. This might not sound so bad to someone that doesnt keep up with the organization, but to New Jersey fans, it is not satisfactory. After jumping out to an 11-3 record, the Nets are now 11-6 and could be about to lose the Atlantic Division to the surging Toronto Raptors.
"I dont think there is anything wrong with our team. 5 games isn't a lot of time for our team to adjust to the loss of Vince Carter and the emergence of Gerald Wallace. I believe that you will start seeing the Nets win more games over the next few weeks," commented coach Lawrence Frank.
In related news, rumours have been flying that the Nets will be using their 10 million dollars in cap space to offer a contract extension to Gerald Wallace soon.
GM Big Black commented on the subject, "A lot of people didn't notice that when we traded Vince for Gerald that we actually lost about 10 million bucks in salary. Was there a reason for that? Guess we will find out."
Despite loosing 3 straight games, I would say that this organization is headed in the right direction.

The Nets have been struggling in the past 10 games, but Nets fans need not be alarmed. The Nets obviously made a huge move in sending out Vince Carter for Gerald Wallace, and it is no suprise that Gerald needed some games to adjust. But why are the Nets losing? Well, honestly Gerald took a little longer than expected to start shooting the ball, but now that he is warmed up, we see no stopping in him. Another reason you can rejoice Nets fans, is that Udonis Haslem is finally healed from his injury. Haslem was injured for about 7 games, which made it even harder to transition Wallace into our starting lineup. Now that all 5 of our starters are healthy are ready to ball, look for the Nets to lace up and compete every night.
