Los Angeles Lakers trade:
Theo Ratliff (66)---$11,666,666 LAL 2008 2nd round draft pick LAL 2009 2nd round draft pick -------------------------- Total Outgoing Salary: $11,666,666
New York Knicks trade:
Jared Jefferies (64)---$5,632,000---$6,049,400 Rudy Fernandez (63)---$500,000---$600,000---$700,000 Randolph Morris (64)---$810,000 -------------------------- Total Outgoing Salary: $6,942,000
Note: The New York Knicks are far enough under the salary cap to absorb the additional $5 million or so in salary. ---------------------------
The New York Knicks accept this deal. I finally get out of Jefferies deal, and ironically, I'm once again trading him to the Lakers. This deal also helps clear up two roster spots for me so I currently don't have to make any cuts as this will put me at 14. Morris and Fernandez are late-first, early-second round prospects, and I am recieving two second round picks as compensation.

I accept. The youth movement continues. I like Fernandez and in a few years he should be ready to start at the point while Morris is really, really raw and I hope he becomes a good role player.

Good job. I like what the Lakers GM is doing. Very similiar to NY's approach last year when he came in.

I'm kinda on the fence with this one actually because of the importance of Theo's expiring contract. But it doesn't matter cos this trade's had three accepts anyway Just gotta wait for the end of LAL's first week.

Just out of curiosity (thanks to this democracy your vote is worthless ), which team do you think is getting the better end of the deal?

I was curious too b/c I will still have over 32 mil in cap room next year and have over 27 mil in cap room this year (including both trades and the signing of Blatche)

Just out of curiosity (thanks to this democracy your vote is worthless ), which team do you think is getting the better end of the deal? Me? I'd say you're getting the better deal because the two guys that are worth something are still a little unproven. And you're getting Theo's expiring which I just know you're dying to combine with a starter to get an all-star

You'd be surprised how little value a big expiring deal actually holds in this league though. Last year, I tried moving Marbury's and Grant Hill's (before I waived him) monster expiring deals in return for overpaid "stars", but I had no luck. If I weren't clearing up roster space in this trade, I would even consider waiving Theo upon arrival. Maybe I'll have better luck this year...
