My #1 priority this off-season is to re-sign Kobe Bryant and making this move is the only way I can guarantee to have enough money to bring Kobe back to Utah.
It's tough to give up Smith but he was really my only attractive trade piece for most teams and I was able to move Jermaine O'Neal with him so I had to pull the trigger.
It also gives me the option of resigning Miller or Chandler to replace O'Neal if I want, with still enough money to get a SF in free agency.

I dunno... I can see why both teams want to do it, but if Brandon Roy opts out for Toronto, he is not going to have the cap space to even make a legit offer.
I guess I'll accept, but this has the potential to be a franchise-crippling move for the Raptors

I would like to hear from members before I accept this trade like the Nets say this could be a Franchise-crippling move for the Raptors

I don't see any reason why Roy would leave a team that is going to pay him $16 mil next season and is bringing in Josh Smith, Greg Monroe, and Jermaine O'Neal and not losing anything of significant value in the process.
Those 3 pieces combined with Brandon Roy, Jeff Green, Richard Jefferson, and Ty Lawson is a pretty solid nucleus of players. Not to mention Toronto now has the pieces to make a number of different trades if they felt it necessary.
O'Neal and Jefferson both have expiring contracts after next season that clear up $35 million in cap space which along with Roy's own contract is around $51 million dollars in cap space. That is more than enough to resign Roy and they would also own his Bird Rights if he played next season in Toronto.
I don't see how this is a bad move for Toronto short or long term. All Toronto gives up is cap space for this off-season.

This trade means Toronto has no chance of re-signing Brandon Roy if he opts out, and at $16mil there's no guarantees just yet. Assuming Toronto knows this already, I'll accept and let him roll the dice if he wants.
On the other hand, I see what Utah's doing, we've been discussing - in the hidden staff section - what Utah was planning to do about Kobe expiring and this is the answer to that question.
Accept.

I accept. Ive been at camp all week and unable to post. I think that Roy should resign, being a good team. I think, with this trade, that I have brought in some talented players that can make it back to the playoffs.
