To TOR 68 - Brandon Bass - $1,500,000 66 - Smush Parker - $2,500,000 68 - Jumaine Jones - $500,000 64 - Marcus Slaughter - $700,000 65 - Melvin Ely - $500,000 Total: $5,700,000 To MEM 74 - Morris Peterson - $7,000,000 - $7,500,000 2010 2nd round pick (36th overall) 2012 2nd round pick Within 125% So I looked at my salary chart and I still have expiring contracts, and well, that's just wrong. I have been having sleepless nights over the fact that Grizzlies might have free agents heading into the off-season and then Toronto came to the rescue So with this trade I deal my five expiring contracts and take on the overpaid Mo Pete. I also get a couple second rounders. One for a couple years from now and one in this draft where I can take the guy who I hope will be the sleeper of the draft I accept.

It's kinda difficult to know what to make of this deal. There's every chance that Memphis can re-sign any of those players and, with the lineup they look like fielding next season, Memphis might not be a cellar dweller by the season's end.
Still waiting on Toronto anyway, so I'll reserve judgement til then.

Well I am not really interested in bringing any of them back, the only one might be Brandon Bass but I already have Cousins, Davis, Dampier and Pryzbilla in the post (and Kirilenko sort of) with posibly more coming in the draft so I will have no need for him. Also I will only have my mid-level exception to sign players in the off-season and this trade will give me 14 players so I plan to use it all to sign one PG to play in front of Roddy Buckets while the heir apparent to Jason Kidd becomes the star I am hoping he will become.

I accept this trade. Mo Pete has been good to Toronto, being the 3rd guy behind Parker and Roy. He has put up some good numbers, a lot of times scoring in the 20 ppg range. He should, if given the chance to start help Memphis out in the same way. I wanted the flexibility to try and go get someone in free agency.
