Weighing the Losses
June 2, 2007
The team's current losing streak has Joe Johnson baffled at what has held them back thus far this season.
Although the season is still young, there is no denying the restlessness in Atlanta. The front office has grown frustrated at the team’s recent losing woes, and has demanded to see some immediate results. In a statement released by its star player, Joe Johnson, he was quoted as saying, “We’re just not getting it done, plain and simple. I know we should be winning more ball games, and I’m sure that’ll happen once our team has a chance to gel, but for right now all we can do is be optimistic about the future.”
The team has yet to win consecutive games since the beginning of the season, and have consequently begun trade talks with other organizations about bringing in some emotional stability and defensive prowess into the starting lineup. The Hawks wasted no time in verifying this speculation in a recent press release this afternoon. They have reportedly agreed to send newly acquired Sebastian Telfair and John Salmons, along with young bench contributors Salim Stoudamire and Solomon Jones, to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for Jamaal Tinsley, Darrell Armstrong, Shawne Williams, and Keith McLeod.
With this acquisition, the Hawks have made their third trade in the past two weeks, and have shown no signs of slowing down. Hoping these transactions are moving the team in the right direction, the Atlanta Hawks GM released the statement: “We in the front office want to see results. Although we know our team has the potential to make an impact on the league in the future, losing with regularity is still unacceptable.” Knowing that the front office is not afraid to pull the trigger on deals involving any of its players, it will be interesting to see how the team responds to the to these high demands.
