The Nets have officially applied for a name change: dimemag.com/2010/08/new-jersey-nets-are-changing-their-name/It is a 2 year waiting period, coincidentally (or not) they move to their new brooklyn arena in 2 years. What do you think they should be renamed to? The best name I have heard is the Brooklyn Bombers but since the last two names we have come with are Bobcats and Thunder I am sure it will be something stupid like Brooklyn Buzz or something.

Brooklyn Bombers sounds alright, but somehow I think it might remind people of 9/11. When you think about it, linking New York and bombs is not really a great idea though.

Brooklyn Nets, I actually think that transforms them from boring to interesting name.

I might be in the minority, but I think they should keep the name "Nets."
There is a lot of history and tradition with that name and I'm not a fan of change just to change. I can understand the New Jersey part if they're moving to BK but they should keep Nets

True, Prokhorov wants to remake them and turn them into a global brand like the Yankees or Man U though. I don't know if that is possible with the name Nets.

I am from Brooklyn so I personally wish that they change their name to Ballers. That would be fly as ****

I dunno if this is just a British perspective, not understanding American slang, but Brooklyn Ballers sounds pretty poor imho.
Brooklyn Nets, with the retro Dr J strip, is an international brand if ever I saw one.

I'm for keeping the Nets name. Brooklyn Nets mixes something new with something old. I like it.
I actually like the name Thunder but I agree that the Bobcats is a weak name (and I'm a Charlotte fan). I have been for the Charlotte franchise to be called the Carolina Flight for some time now (even before MJ bought in).

I'm a nets fan here, I think changing the name would be stupid. I love the ring to the name the nets.
