I was just watching this (frankly mind-bogglingly-awesome) youtube video of Derrick Rose:
And I figured it might be cool to get a better idea of who we're drafting by discussing them here! I will add information to this post if the thread grows so we can build a database ready for when the draft happens!

Beasley is going to be the best forward drafted since Lebron and Carmelo and all of them Personally, I feel that Kevin Love is the 3rd best player in the draft after Beasley (mix of Marion and Garnett) and Rose (the next D-Wade) youtube.com/watch?v=-TQkWr8tQ3Q

Yeah Love is seriously underrated by most draft "experts" just because he's your classic, slow, white, big man. He's so fundamental, and strong at the same time, that he will be a 15, 8 and 4 guy at the next level.
I'm also SUPER excited about Lester Hudson. I can't find any vids on him, but he played D1 for the first time this year at Tennessee- Martin, and just dominated teams like Memphis and Vanderbilt. I would love to see some video's of him if any of you can find them.
For the record, out of the big four guards (Rose, Mayo, Bayless, and Gordon) Rose is by far the best. Mayo can easily be as good as him, and Bayless can be damn good in his own right. But Eric Gordon is the guy that will be a Ricky Davis type player who looks good, and puts up good numbers, but doesn't put it towards a winning cause. That's just my two cents.

Real GMs Mock Draft has Kevin Love going at 15th: *link*edit: They've also got OJ Mayo going to the Knicks... IMO if a player with the potential for a bad attitude goes to the Knicks, things will most likely go downhill from there! The Knicks would benefit amazingly perhaps from a PG like Bayless or Rose!

I'm also interested in Anthony Randolph. I couldn't find any YouTubes about him but he seems like a long and lanky Chris Bosh sort of guy and I'll be looking for a Power Forward come draft-time!

Honestly my favorite player going into the draft is Roy Hibbert, I think though honestly, Draft time is the best time of the year for me I don't know why I just love the draft. I also like Greg Monroe, he is a Senior in Highschool and will be going to Georgetown next year. Hes 6'10 and can Handle the ball, hes number 1 ranked player in the country, well for the class of 2008 for that part.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of Hibbert
I see him as being a Desagna Diop type player in the NBA... people love his height and defense but theres a lot of defensive big men already... Hibbert doesnt really have the offense to excel at the next level (same way I feel about Oden)

Oden has twice the offensive game of Hibbert or Diop. Oden has some of the nicest post game to come out of college in a long time. Since Nick Collison at least. (but Love has better offensive game than both of them)

(but Love has better offensive game than both of them) Love has better passing skills and an all-around offensive game, I agree. NJ, his rookie season, Oden will probably will just get his points on follow-ups. I doubt Nate will design many plays for Oden. Give him a few years to develop his offensive game. You'll be amazed (I personally hope).

Chad Ford has some interesting insights into a few players entering this year's draft. Especially sleeper Joe Alexander and Marreese Speights. ( link)

Ahhh Speights is easily my favorite player in the draft. So underrated in every aspect. He should warrant a top 5 pick, but I'll be suprised if he's taken before 6.
Alexander is a monster finisher, with a nice mid range game. He could be a poor mans David West with his skillset I think.

Alexander would be the perfect fit for the Raps.

I disagree. He plays the same position as Bosh. I'd rather see them get a guy like Brandon Rush at 17 who is going to contribute immediately as a wing defender/ scorer.

Man, when I see Speights I think of Rasheed Wallace. Dunno why people put Brook Lopez ahead of him in mocks. Agreed so much. Speights is just unknown because he was buried in Florida's bench when they went back to back, and this year when he finally gets to start, their team sucked so bad that he didn' t get any recognition.

NBA.com has a load of rookie videos to check out. I'm starting to like this draft just as much as last year's awesome draft. Not just for Rose and Beasley. But I think Anthony Randolph, Mareese Speights, Joe Alexander, Jerryd Bayless and OJ Mayo are all excellent looking prospects. Anthony Randolph is like a Tayshaun Prince/Chris Bosh-a-like guy. Mareese Speights, like I said before, is like a young Rasheed Wallace. Joe Alexander has such a huge leap for a white guy, and he's so athletic. He's like a more skilled David Lee. Bayless is spectacular and an athletic freak. If he can play point he's gonna be good to pass as well as score. OJ Mayo has the handles and mannerisms of Kobe Bryant but I just can't see him ever living up to that kind of potential, just because it would be blind to think so. Guys I'm not so sold on, as much as other people atleast. Kevin Love needs to work on his athleticism a LOT. Brooke Lopez will do well purely because he's huge, but I can't see him ever being more than a mediocre center. Eric Gordon is incredibly explosive and strong for a SG, and even though he's really good from long range his shot technique would probably have to change for the NBA, he's not as tall as other SGs and shoots the ball from out in front of him making it easier to block. Writing any of those guys off though would be stupid.

I've always been. ;D Too bad his stock's rising quickly, it'll be hard for the Blazers to get him at 13th. I'd be fine with Augustin (who's stock is also rising), or Alexander possibly. Hickson's projected top 20? I knew he was going up, but I was hoping he'd fall to 33.

Knowing the Blazers history, they will get more than one rookie in the first round. Possibly buying the Suns picks.

^I always love that part of the draft. ;D I dunno if the Suns would do it this year though, they're looking to acquire a 1st, and the pick they have is ATL's which is higher than their normal picks.

I'm really high on Russell Westbrook right now. I guess the Sonics were too! ;D Seriously, I'm really excited about Westbrook and the Sonics. They lack a defined presence in the paint, but their backcourt looks sweet. The Nets cleaned up in this draft! I think Lopez will be a big help for their perennial problems in the frontcourt and Yi will fit-in more in New York. The Atlantic Division is looking a lot more competitive now, especially after the Jermaine O'Neal move to Toronto.

1) Derrick Rose - Chicago Bulls I think Rose will be a stud. His athleticism and willingness to learn, and play the game as a team player will ultimately make him an elite PG at this level.
2) Michael Beasley - Miami Heat I don't think there was ever any doubt in the franchises mind that they were taking him. He can score at will down low, and will give Wade some space to operate that he hasn’t had since before Shaq was sub-par at best.
3) OJ Mayo - Memphis Grizzlies I think Mayo will be a good player on this level as well. His defense and ability to create his own shot will make him a good fit in Memphis where they will be jacking up a lot of shots. Gay, Conley, and Mayo is a good foundation to build on.
4) Russell Westbrook – Seattle Supersonics The first pick of the draft I don’t like. Don’t get me wrong, Westbrook is a good player, but I really can’t ever see him being a competent offensive player. He got extremely over hyped leading up to the draft, and I can’t see him living up to expectations. I can see him being a player like Antonio Daniels, who a similar thing happened to leading up to the draft.
5) Kevin Love – Minnesota Timberwolves I like this pick. Love is a supreme player, and people doubting his athleticism are the same people who would rather take Anthony Randolph here. Love will instantly make a tough as nails duo up front with Al Jefferson. I expect big things from Love, as he could be a 15 and 10 guy for a long time.
6) Danilo Gallinari – New York Knicks I don’t think this pick will work out for the Knicks. Danilo could be a good player in the right situation, but that situation sure as hell isn’t with the Knicks. I’m expecting a rough start to his career, that he might not be able to recover from.
7) Eric Gordon – Los Angeles Clippers I’m not a huge Eric Gordon fan, because I don’t believe he is the type of player that can help a team win games. He’s going to score, and we all know that, but he’s never going to be a leader on the court, nor a guy who can help a team win big games. Nice skill set, he just doesn’t have the mental make up to use it in a constructive manner in my honest opinion. Could be a guy like Jamal Crawford with better defense.
8) Joe Alexander – Milwaukee Bucks First off. Let me say I have the utmost respect for Joe Alexander. I love the way he plays with that amount of heart, and he’s extremely dedicated to the game. But that being said, if him and the Milwaukee Bucks are expecting him to be a small forward, they are out of their mind. He clearly doesn’t have that kind of skill set, so they will be very disappointed if they try to make him a small forward. That being said, he’s a hell of a player, and if he’s allowed to play power forward, he could have a David Lee type of career.
9) DJ Augustin – Charlotte Bobcats I think Augustin is a nice player, and every team could benefit from a guy like him. He will be a guy who is an average starter throughout his career, which is more than you can ask from a guy that size. He’s going to play with his heart on his sleeve, and get his 8-15 points, and 5 or 6 assists every night.
10) Brook Lopez – New Jersey Nets Lopez is one of the only players in the draft I am unsure about. Part of me thinks he can be a good player on the next level because of the way he can get post position so well, and block shots with such ease. But at the same time, part of me thinks he is too choppy offensively to really be a player as good as a guy like Kevin Love. I’d like to see him succeed, I just am not sure if it will happen.
11) Jarred Bayless – Portland Trailblazers Bayless is going to excel in Portland. He couldn’t end up in a better place for himself. He is going to have so many open jumpshots due to the guys he’s going to be playing with. I expect him to be a good player in this league for 7 or 8 years with his athleticism and ability to shoot the ball.
12) Jason Thompson – Sacramento Kings Well. He’s a great guy, and a decent player. But he was not at all worth this pick. I can’t see him ever averaging more than 5 PPG, because he’s really not assertive enough to be a quality NBA player.
13) Brandon Rush – Indiana Pacers Solid player all around. Can have a career like the resurrected Anthony Parker. Will be a solid wing in this league for a long time.
14) Anthony Randolph – Golden State Warriors I can not see this kid being a good player in any way. Golden State is the perfect place for an athletic big man to go. But he clearly doesn’t know how to play basketball, and I don’t see that changing any time soon.
Late first rounders who will succeed: Robin Lopez – Phoenix Suns Marreese Speights – Philadelphia 76ers Courtney Lee – Orlando Magic George Hill – San Antonio Spurs DJ White – Detroit Pistons
Late first rounders who are all hype, no game: JaVale McGee – Washington Wizards Alexis Ajinca – Charlotte Bobcats Serge Ibaka – Seattle Supersonics Donte Greene – Memphis Grizzlies JR Giddens – Boston Celtics
Second Round Steals: Joey Dorsey – Indiana Pacers Mario Chalmers – Minnesota Timberwolves Chris Douglas Roberts – New Jersey Nets

I think the same thing you say about Eric Gordon is true for Beasley. I just dont seem him as a type of player who is going to lead his team to a championship. I see him as a great fantasy player but just someone who doesnt play any defense and is out there to get his and not make his team better. I think he is going to be a good player in the league but I cant see him winning a championship as the star, defense and teamwork win championships, ex. celtics, pistons, spurs, and Beasley is lacking those attributes, but thats just my opinion.
Rose is going to be great, how great? I dont think he will be Jason Kidd, or Chris Paul, but he will develop into a Deron Williams type player, an elite player and allstar caliber but not mvp caliber.
OJ Mayo is going to be a good player and probable allstar.
Love could be a 12/10 guy as a rookie or better being next to Al Jefferson.
Westbrook is an elite defender and a great player to play along Durant and Green. He was a bit of a reach this high but Seattle tried to move back, they couldnt so they drafted their man.
I really think Danillo will work out, he seems like the perfect player for Dantoni. Maybe not an allstar quality player but will be in the league for a long time.
I like Eric Gordon because the man can flat out score, he can shoot it and shoot it well. Fits into LA perfect at the 2, they were starting Cuttino.
Joe Alexander is a good player, hustles, works hard, tenacious, fits Scott Skiles to a tee. A Good valuable player on a team that can win. I dont understand the move after the trade for Jefferson though. Did they draft him to be a bench player? I wouldnt think so.
DJ Augustin, I like him but dont understand it, are they going to play Felton or DJ, Feltons young but I guess Larry Brown doesnt like him. Augustin could develop into a very good point guard though his height is a concern.
Brook Lopez this is a great fit for NJ, they needed a big bad and got one who can play. He can be a decent starter for them, not all star quality though. Needs to play better defense. I really liked what NJ has done, they are clearing that cap room for employee 23 and building a team missing one thing an elite small forward. With Lebron they will be championship contenders, no doubt and right now it seems like a much better situation than Cleveland.
Jarryd Bayless, will be ok, not as good as people believe, I dont think he has the point guard skills to succeed at that position. He will be a good offensive player coming off the bench for energy, sort of a better version of Eddie House.
Jason Thompson is a solid big, Im not sure he will be an impact player but you never know.
Brandon Rush is a good player a kind of role player that is needed to win championships, a long defender and great shooter. Think a James Posey type player.
Anthony Randolph is a kid that is going to need to play in the D-League for like 3 years, he is way too thin and didnt they just draft a player like him last year in Wright. Dont like this one.
Robin Lopez is the perfect fit for the Suns, a good defender and rebounder will back up Shaq for his last 2 years of his career and can learn a little and then will step in and cover Amares defensive lapses and keep him at his natural PF position.
I like Darrel Arthur as well, he fell too far for this kidney thing. Ther were way too many foreign players who cant play taken in the first round, how does CDR drop to the 2nd round? What is the logic in taking a player who averages 5ppg and 5rbg in a French league and not an elite Euro League like Alexis Ajinci over Douglas Roberts, a college All-American?
Roy Hibbert is a good player who will contribute. The thing about picking these foreign guys to stash over there in Europe for 2 or 3 years is retarded. Why pick someone who isnt going to play for 3 years if at all? How about these Euros not declare for the draft until they know they are coming over?
