first UPSET of the draft lottery.
Miami's pick (to Toronto) is now moved up to the top 3.

How can you be sure that Miami's pick now goes into the Top 3 though? I don't understand this process completely

Only the top 3 spots are randomly chosen. After that, the rest is determined by reverse order of record. So, since Miami isn't in their normal spot, it must mean they have been selected in the top 3.

Oh okay, I honestly had no idea that was the case! Since that's a fact then yes, Miami (and therefore Toronto) does indeed have one of the top 3 picks!

It's a draft lottery, Miami could be anywhere between 8-1 at this point. Probably not in the top since there pick wasn't that high, and it goes by the worst record not random or whatever you said.

I forgot to clarify my meaning about the top 3 BOS, sorry about that. but what happens is teams OUTSIDE the top 3, has a chance to move up the draft to the top 3 positions knocking down teams in the top 3 to lower positions. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_NBA_Draftthere's a prime example. Memphis and Boston were the 2 WORST teams in the NBA but they ended up with 4th and 5th pick in draft respectively. while SEA (now OKC) moved up from 5th and got the 2nd pick in draft, and POR who was 7th before the lottery started moved up and got the top pick in the draft. hope that clears it up a little bit.

Now I'm even confused. Is it not done just like it is in the real NBA draft lottery?

Now I'm even confused. Is it not done just like it is in the real NBA draft lottery? yup it's exactly like the real NBA draft lottery. if you move up it's automatic top 3. if you got picks 1, 2, 3 and someone moves up from below the top 3 drop to 4, 5, and 6.

It doesn't mean it's automatic top 3 lol... Yes, it does. When you go up, then you go to top 3. In the lottery they have 1000 balls, the team with the worst team has 250 of them , the second worst 199, the third 156 etc. They pick out three balls, the top three teams of the draft. E.g. the 12th-13th-14th worst team gets the top 3 spots, the three worst teams will be 4-5-6 then. The top 3 teams can go down maximum 3 spots.
